Compartmentalised Knowledge

Sometimes, I am amazed by the amazing ability of people to compartmentalised academic knowledge from their day-to-day lives.

How is it that students of science can believe in literal miracles. How is it that students of biology can not accept evolution? How is it that students of Logic and Critical Thinking can succumb to conspiracy theories and urban legends?

The problem I think, is that, at times we are too focused on teaching/learning the content, such that we overlooked learning about how we arrived at the conclusions in the first place. Examination performance had been valued more than actual appreciation and understanding. Maybe, we are just intellectually lazy, and overlooked that our logic and knowledge should be uniformly applied. Then perhaps, we need consciousness raising.
