B+ for GEK1042

Results for special semester 2 is out, I got B+ for GEK1042, my second module in NUS. While I am satisfied with the grade, after all I did not work the hardest for this module, and law is something new to me. However, a B+ grade puts me in a 50/50 position, whether (or not) to exercise my S/U option. I previously got a A+ in my first module.

I am aiming to proceed to graduate studies, and a first class honours (or at least a "high" second upper) would be important to me. If I could, I would apply for the Life Sciences/Biophysics con-current degree with KCL, requiring a minimum cap of 4.25 at end of year 1.

If that's the case, plus the fact I am currently taking SPS modules, I would have no free unrestricted elective to apply my S/U options anymore. All that's left would be 2 breadth and 1 SS module.

Option S
If I S/U my B+ module, my previous A+ module would greatly help pull my future results up. Increasing my chance of getting into graduate studies. I will have 2 S/U options left for 3 more eligible modules. It would be "a waste" not to apply my one of the options now.

Option B+
If I keep my B+ grade, It would mean a "A-" average for the 8 MCs i have taken so far. It would not help help me if my future results are good, but it will conserve 3 S/U options for the many many unrestricted elective I will have to take (if i don't qualify for concurrent degree) and a B+ will help me if my future results are lousy (Bs and below). Who knows, I may start getting Cs, Ds and Fs for my future results.

My Thoughts
I had been optimistic, perhaps even complacent after my unexpected A+ grade in my first module. It is with this confidence I started to aim for SPS (I am already in), concurrent degree and other special programmes in NUS. So far, all this goals are mere wishful thinking, all which would evaporate if my future results are lousy. If that's the case, option B+ is the safest and most helpful to me. Option B+ is also a conservative option. If I do so amazingly well in future, one B+ will not make much difference anyway. Option S will only help in those marginal cases.

At the moment, I am inclining towards option B+. Greatly appreciate advice and comments from friends and readers. :)

Update: I have opted for option B+, my target for this semester is to maintain my cap above 4.5. This will be tough, as this meant scoring A- average for all modules. I must work hard.
